Rhandiroedd Newydd i Aberystwyth (a'r ardal)?

Mai argyfwng yng Ngheredigion parthed a rhandiroedd. Ar hyn o bryd, mae 70 o bobl yng Ngheredigion ar y rhestr aros i gael rhandiroedd, ac mae pobl yn aros am fwy na phum mlynedd. Mewn oes lle mae materion amgylchedd yn fwy bwysig nag erioed, ac mae prisiau bwyd yn codi'n gyflym tra i incwmau disgyn, mae rhandiroedd yn gwneud fwy o synnwyr amgylcheddol ac ariannol nag erioed.

Yn ogystal a hynny, mae yna pryderon am gyflwr y rhandiroedd sydd eisoes ym Mhenparcau, yn sgil y llifogydd llynedd.

Mae cynlluniau eraill wedi'u gosod yn aml i ymdrin ag y problem hwn, ond cafwyd problemau. Cafwyd wrthwynebiad cryf gan trigolion lleol ym Mhenparcau pan ceisiodd Cyngor y Tref i sefydlu rhandiroedd newydd ymyl y sawl sydd yn bodoli eisoes. Yn Waunfawr, mae'r maen tramgwydd oedd y cynllun datblygu lleol. Hefyd, mae'n glir nad yw'r cyngor sir yn awyddus i sefydlu rhandiroedd newydd; mewn ffaith maent yn awyddus i drosglwyddo rhandiroedd sydd eisoes yn bodoli i gynghorau tref a chymuned, os bosib, sydd yn fwy debyg o ennill grantiau ayyb.

Ond mae syniad newydd wedi codi, Mewn cyfarfod pwyllgor rheolaeth gyffredinol Cyngor Tref Aberystwyth ar noswaith 11/11/13, cyflwynwyd cynlluniau a ddyluniwyd ar y cyd gyda Prifysgol Aberystwyth i sefydlu llawer o randiroedd newydd cyferbyn PJM. Mae hynny'n ddatblygiad wych, sydd a'i wraidd yng ngofyniadau gan myfyrwyr a staff am rhandiroedd. Gan mae'r bron iawn o fyfyrwyr yma am dim ond tair flynedd, does dim pwynt i fyfyrwyr ymuno a rhestr aros sydd yn fwy na pum mlynedd, fel y mae ar hyn o bryd! Os adeiladir rhandiroedd, adeiladir tua 110 o randiroedd yn y lle cyntaf, gyda phosibiliad o dua 150 arall os mae llawer o bobl yn awyddus i gael rhandiroedd.

Mae'r potensial yma i ddarparu i lawer fwy o bobl y cyfle i dyfu eu bwyd eu hunain, yn weddol lleol a gan hynny i arbed llawer o arian hefyd. Os sefydlir y rhandiroedd hwn, bydd yn bosib leihau'r rhestr aros yn sylweddol, ac bydd hynny'n wych i'r dref yn gyffredinol :)

Nad yw'r cynllun heb eu heriau wrth gwrs. Bydd y plotiau yn 50m sgwar, sydd yn weddol fawr ond yn llai na rhai o'r rhandiroedd sydd eisoes yn bodoli ym Mhenparcau. Wrth gwrs, ar y llaw arall, nad pawb sydd eisiau rhandiroedd o'r maint sydd ym Mhenparcau! Hefyd, os arweinir y prosiect hwn gan Cyngor Dref Aberystwyth, bydd weinyddu'r prosiect yn cymryd llawer o amser gan staff y cyngor.

Ar y cyfan, yn hapus iawn, croesawyd yr egwyddor o redeg rhandiroedd gan y cyngor dref. Y cam nesaf fydd tacluso a gweithio ar y cais ariannol dros y prosiect. Gobeithio fe welir rhandiroedd newydd yn Aberystwyth yn y dyfodol agos, yn gwneud cyfraniad aruthrol i'r dref ac i'r byd.

New Allotments for Aberystwyth (and the area)?

There is a crisis in Ceredigion regarding allotments . Currently , there are 70 people in Ceredigion on the waiting list for allotments, and people are waiting for more than five years . In an age where environmental issues are more important than ever, and food prices are rising rapidly while incomes are falling, allotments make ​​more financial and environmental sense than ever .
In addition to this , there are concerns about the condition of the existing allotments in Penparcau , following the floods last year .

Other schemes have been posed to deal with the problem , but there have been problems . There was strong opposition from local residents in Penparcau when the Town Council sought to establish new allotments next to those that already exist . In Waunfawr , the stumbling block was the local development plan . Also, it's clear that the county council isn't keen to establish new allotments; in fact would be keen to transfer existing allotments to community councils, if possible, which are more likely to win grants etc .

But a new idea has arisen , in general management committee meeting on the evening of 11/11/13 Aberystwyth Town Council, plans were presented, designed in collaboration with Aerystwyth University to establish many new allotments opposite PJM . That's a great development, which has its root in requests by students and staff for allotments . As the students are here almost always for three years only , there's no point for students to join a waiting list that is more than five years, as it is at the moment ! If allotments are built, around 110 plots will be built in the first phase , with a possiblity of approximately 150 else if lots of people want to have allotments .

There is potential to provide many more people with the opportunity to grow their own food, fairly locally and therefore save a lot of money too . If these allotments are established, it is possible to significantly reduce the waiting list, and that will be great for the town in general :)

This is not without challenges of course . The plots are 50 square metres , which is fairly large but less than some of the existing allotments in Penparcau . Of course , on the other hand, not everyone wants allotments of the size of some in Penparcau ! Also, if this project is led by Aberystwyth Town Council, administration of the project will take a lot of council staff time.

All in all, very happily, The town council welcomed the principle of the new allotments. The next step is to tidy up and work on the financial bid for the project . I hope we see new allotments in Aberystwyth in the near future, as an important contribution to the town and the world .
